Job Duties
Provide day-to-day supervision and case management services to a specialized caseload of adult probationers and parolees that have been identified as confirmed gang members and/or assessed to have high criminogenic risks and/or treatment needs. Serves as Supervisor/Team Lead of the Gang Team and will provide guidance and advice to assigned staff members for the purpose of case assignments case reviews workload distribution and business need. Actively applies Evidence-Based practices including effective communication skills principles and techniques to promote internal change within
the probationer or parolee while resolving complex case management issues. Conduct home and community contacts in accordance with case needs case plans and DOC and Unit Policy and Procedures. Prepare Pre-Sentence Investigations sentencing guidelines and other reports as assigned in a timely manner; testify and provide sentencing recommendations to the court/attorney.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of the criminal justice system case management and counseling techniques that may include Motivational Interviewing and other evidence based practices. Demonstrated ability in writing reports and working with people in conflict with the legal system to interpret and apply policies and procedures and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Capable of independent judgement and action. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of probationers co-workers and community-based organizations.
Additional Considerations
Valid drivers license. Experience preparing written reports and presenting reports to official outside audiences. Experience conducting interviews to gather information. Experience working directly with adult supervisees providing program management and reentry planning. Criminal Justice Public Administration Social Science Counseling or related field or equivalent applicable experience or training. Experience facilitating offender treatment groups. Recent experience working in a probation and parole district office.
