The Role

As the Senior Advisor for Emergencies Strategic Partnerships you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to help vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. Save the Childrens U.S. Emergencies work is strategically and sustainably delivered primarily through partnerships.

As a core member of the U.S. Emergencies Team the Senior Advisor leads the organizations U.S. emergency partnership strategy and drives the development and maintenance of long-term relationships with a diverse range of emergency response partners. This includes shaping and monitoring the partnership strategy proactively identifying both upstream and downstream partner organizations negotiating mutually beneficial agreements and managing ongoing collaborations to ensure alignment with Save the Childrens strategic goals.

In addition to strategic partnership responsibilities this position is deployable to support domestic emergency responses. During deployments the Senior Advisor serves as the Operations Lead for the responseplaying a key role in establishing the response structure coordinating between field and headquarters teams and overseeing logistics administration and operational planning. This includes ensuring systems are in place for resource mobilization supply chain coordination and day-to-day operational support in close collaboration with Save the Childrens national and local partners to effectively meet response objectives.

With a strong emphasis on relationship building negotiation and operational leadership the Senior Advisor plays a critical role in advancing our domestic response strategy and expanding Save the Childrens impact across the United States.

Hybrid Washington DC Fairfield CT or Lexington KY office locations (with expected deployments to US Emergencies)

What Youll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Emergencies Partnership Strategy (20%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership strategy to build meaningful year-round relationships with nonprofits corporations academia and federal state and local government agencies active in emergency response. The strategy will include setting clear objectives key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones for each partnership.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a monitoring system / dashboard to efficiently assess the executing of US Emergencies partnership strategy
  • Take inventory of existing emergency collaborations develop formal emergencies partnership guidelines and policies including a due diligence and negotiation process.

Partnership Development (30%)

  • Build and maintain Save the Childrens membership in networks and coalitions focused on emergency response child protection psychosocial programming and other related areas.
  • In partnership with the Managing Director establish annual Emergencies program partnership goals and meet those goals by researching outreaching and negotiating with new partners for US Emergencies.
  • Represent Save the Children at industry events conferences and meetings to expand the partnership network and raise awareness Save the Childrens US emergency response goals.
  • Proactively identify new partnership opportunities through active networking and participation in relevant events.
  • Lead and support the development of compelling joint value propositions tailored to each prospective partner.
  • Support PSS and EiE teams to provide training to national emergency partners with complementary programming.
  • Guide and support the U.S. Emergencies team and response teams in the strategic development and execution of MOUs.
  • Proactively identify new partnership opportunities through active networking and participation in relevant events.
  • Lead and support the development of compelling joint value propositions tailored to each prospective partner.
  • Create opportunities for PSS and EiE teams to provide training to national partners as part of partner development and management efforts.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for partners fostering trust transparency and mutual value in all interactions. Serve as the lead operational liaison for designated partnerships and the administrative point of contact for all partnership engagements.
  • Work with the Save the Childrens Partnerships & Philanthropy department and the Managing Director to build collaborative partnerships with corporate emergency donors.

Partnership Management (20%)

  • Monitor and evaluate the outcomes of partnerships sharing key successes and growth areas with stakeholders.
  • Support partners to build thoughtful and systemic approaches to emergencies.
  • Lead on the development of and execute systems for relationship management including tracking and reporting.
  • Acts as a resource for other team members and leads projects with limited risks and resource requirements.
  • Co-create key performance indicators to communicate impact and ensure successful collaborations.
  • Sustain and steward relationships across USPs strategic partnerships portfolio.
  • Lead on SCUS relationship with National VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters).
  • Lead Impact Hub trainings and development for US Emergency Partners.

Response Operations Lead (up to 20%)

  • Deploy in the role of Operations Lead during U.S.-based emergency responses guiding operational planning and implementation from onset to closeout.
  • Establish and manage the response structure ensuring alignment with Save the Childrens emergency protocols and operational standards.
  • Coordinate across field and headquarters teams to ensure seamless communication resource alignment and decision-making throughout the response.
  • Oversee logistics functions including procurement supply chain transport warehousing and distribution to support timely and effective program delivery.
  • Lead operational coordination with Save the Childrens national and local partners supporting joint planning implementation and monitoring efforts.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to support safe efficient and adaptive emergency operations.
  • Support after-action reviews and continuous improvement processes to capture lessons learned and strengthen future response capacity.

Cross-Agency Collaboration (10%)

  • Present to large audiences engaging through a deep well of facilitation and public speaking skills.
  • Work inclusively across the organization and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to pursue partnership goals and priorities. Examples include collaborating with program advocacy marketing and/or resource development colleagues to advance partnerships opportunities that involve joint programming joint advocacy thought leadership and/or joint fundraising.

Required qualifications for the role

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree or equivalent experience plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Requires conceptual and practical expertise in mental health psychosocial and social emotional and cash transfer program areas
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 25%.
  • Availability within 96 hours to rapidly deploy up to 6 weeks to US emergency responses
  • Ability to manage projects with demonstrated ability to coach mentor and be a team player.
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic creative thinker who can uncover new partnership opportunities.
  • Proven relationship-builder and natural connector; with a demonstrated understanding of how to effectively partner with other organizations to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Demonstrated clear understanding of issues related to poverty in rural communities and the ability to convey that understanding in a clear and easily understood way.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels both internally and externally.

This position may require the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle to fulfill certain essential functions of the job. The incumbent should maintain a valid drivers license and remain in compliance with any Save the Children policies pertaining to the safe operation of motor vehicles.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro DC and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $108800 $121600 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $98600 $110200 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $88400 $98800 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on but not limited to relevant experience base salary of internal peers business sector and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
