Implements and improves testing development and validation techniques processes tooling and machinery to maximize product quality.
What You Will Do:
Assisting to resolve issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation robotics computer aided manufacturing software etc.) to achieve greater efficiency cost reduction and quality improvement.
Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable efficient and cost-effective.
Monitoring results machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
Degree Requirement
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

- Demonstrated experience in machine controls and automation testing & design
- Proficiency in automated testing methodologies and tools
- Strong foundation in system software testing including validation of embedded systems and diagnostics
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan organize monitor and control projects ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Plans estimates staffs organizes and monitors significant projects.
Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team sponsors and clients.
Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches techniques and tools; ability to design plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Coordinates execution of test plans including resources strategy schedules processes and tools.
Collaborates with design team to ensure testing considerations are incorporated into system design.
Matches testing methodology and tools to product being tested; develops test scenarios and scripts.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches tools and techniques; ability to anticipate detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.
Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.
Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.
Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Hands-on experience withon-machine testingin field or proving ground environments
- Background inmachine controlsautomation testing & design andGPS-based machine control systems
- Proficiency inautomated testing toolsand scripting for validation workflows
- Strong understanding ofsystem software testing including diagnostics fault injection and performance validation
- Familiarity withelectromechanical systemsand their integration in test environments
Additional Information:
- This position is based at thePeoria Proving Grounds.
- On-site presence is required five days a week; remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available.
- Relocation assistance is providedfor this role.
- Sponsorship for employment authorization is available.
- Travel requirements are minimal with expected annual travel of less than 10%.
Summary Pay Range:
$110520.00 - $165840.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
