Job Description

About the Role:
As a Tax Manager you will be a key leader within a public accounting firm overseeing tax compliance planning and advisory services for a diverse client base. You will manage and mentor tax professionals review complex tax filings and provide strategic guidance to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance & Review: Oversee the preparation and review of complex corporate partnership and individual tax returns ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal state and local tax laws.
- Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor providing tax planning and consulting services to help clients optimize their tax positions.
- Leadership & Team Development: Supervise and mentor tax associates and senior staff review their work provide coaching and foster professional growth.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changing tax laws and advise clients and firm leadership on their potential impacts.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement tax process efficiencies improving accuracy and turnaround times.
- Audit Support: Assist clients with tax audits responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Business Development: Help build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional service offerings.
Key Qualifications:
To excel in this role you should have:
- Tax Expertise: Strong knowledge of corporate partnership and individual taxation including multi-state and federal regulations.
- Leadership Skills: Experience leading and developing a team of tax professionals including training mentoring and performance management.
- Client-Facing Skills: Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships offering proactive tax strategies and insights.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in tax software (e.g. CCH ProSystem fx Lacerte UltraTax) and strong Excel skills.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills to identify tax-saving opportunities and solve complex tax issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to convey complex tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Degree: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; Masters in Taxation preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of public accounting tax experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Certification: CPA required.
