Position Summary
Oversee the entire Chicago operating facility and ensure the production units and employees are operating in a safe and efficient manner by directing production employees to accomplish task specific items including housekeeping loading/unloading material movements equipment shutdown equipment start up equipment isolation (Lockout Tagout) and holding them accountable for completing all tasks. Ensure each production unit is running according to the production plan and assist in troubleshooting activities (logistics quality process equipment) and coordination of solutions. Be the primary lead for first responder safety cGMP & ISO documentation food safety and all GFSI initiatives across the site. Comply and hold all personnel accountable for food safety procedures and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Carryout the production plan to achieve proper operating volumes yields and product quality specifications.
Communicate and document through various reporting schemes any safety incidents operating inefficiencies downtime root cause analysis (including lessons learned) and housekeeping issues.
Ensure all operating units are running per agreed feed rate standards and yields. Utilize the data collection system (DeltaV/ASPEN) to aid the operating process. Report any inefficiencies/issues not resolved on a given shift.
Own the interlock bypass process; utilize safety guidelines to determine when it is acceptable to bypass an equipment/process interlock.
Assist the operators in troubleshooting equipment and process when inefficiencies or upsets develop. Coach the operators in the process to continually improve personnel abilities.
Train coach and appraise trainees and established subordinates such that all personnel are competent in performing designated functions. Properly document any deficiencies which need to be addressed by the production trainer or management staff.
Hold each employee accountable for performing daily duties and directed tasks. Address any behavior or performance issues with employees immediately and discipline when necessary in coordination with the Union Contract Company Policies and Code of Conduct.
Ensure all maintenance and production work is carried out according to established OSHA and Chicago site safe work practices. Conduct safety audits as required to spot check and ensure current practices are followed and enforced.
Review operation log sheets each shift and effectively communicate improvement ideas.
Take an active involvement in all Company quality or continuous improvement initiatives through regular root cause identification and participation on improvement teams. Encourage and facilitate the involvement of subordinates.
Education & Experience
Education: High School Diploma required College Degree preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years experience as a Production Supervisor or Chemical Operator in a Chemical plant Union experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
Must be computer proficient. This role requires daily use of MS Office Suite applications (Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook) DeltaV and Aspen.
Knowledge of all typical industrial equipment including various pumps heat exchangers valves instrumentation etc.
Experience with ISO and Food Safety quality systems highly desired.
Pay and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is:$80000 - $120000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education certifications experience qualifications skills and geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive program.
