As part of Scotiabanks Market Risk team the Securities Analytics Group (SAG) is at the forefront of managing the Banks capital markets exposures in Securities globally. This is a dynamic group as it must respond to changes in the Banks initiatives as well as changes in market and regulatory environments. The team is responsible for measures under Chapter 2 of the OSFI guideline and the monitoring of the Banks securities related manager role is a high-profile position responsible for a number of important regulatory and management initiatives. The successful candidate is expected to have an in-depth knowledge of the securities market and the management of Issuer Risk exposures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage the Issuer Risk exposure aggregation and reporting
  • Manage operational process and ensure compliance with internal audit requirements
  • Conduct analysis and investigation to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Investigate opportunities and implement process automation
  • Liaise with stakeholders from Market Risk teams the Front Office Business Banking IT Audit and other departments to resolve complex risk monitoring issues and improve operational efficiencies

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong management and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of capital markets and risk management practices
  • In-depth knowledge of financial instruments and derivatives
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good programing skills in SQL and Python
  • Excellent skills in crafting and presenting strategic plans tosenior management
  • Ability to build strong relationship and enlist supports

Education/Experiences:

  • Master degree or higher in finance or other quantitative fields(economics mathematics physics or engineering)
  • Knowledge of the capital market practices
  • Knowledge of the operational practice of managing issuer riseand securities aggregation as asset
  • Experience in leading technology projects an asset
  • Completion of CFA/FRM an asset
