Job Description

General DescriptionQuincy Public Schools seeks an innovative and collaborative educator to plan teach and evaluate engaging mathematics instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The successful candidate will inspire middle school students to develop a strong foundation in mathematical thinking and problem-solving while fostering a love of learning and exploration within STEM pathways. This position requires a teacher who is responsive to the academic and developmental needs of middle school learners and committed to supporting school-wide goals. Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students including advanced learners is a key and Responsibilities:1. Plan organize and implement high-quality mathematics instruction aligned with state standards and district expectations.2. Establish and maintain a classroom environment that encourages active learning collaboration and academic risk-taking.3. Develop lessons and structure class time to support a variety of instructional formats including direct instruction small group learning guided practice and hands-on application.4. Integrate mathematical content with real-world applications and demonstrate interdisciplinary connections across STEM and other content areas.5. Apply diverse instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students including advanced and accelerated learners.6. Assess students academic progress and social-emotional growth; maintain accurate and up-to-date records and prepare timely progress reports.7. Deliver appropriate accommodations and modifications for students in alignment with IEPs 504 plans and multilingual learner needs.8. Participate in all required professional responsibilities including supervision attendance student and family communication team/department meetings and school-wide initiatives.9. Engage in continuous professional growth aligned with school and district goals.10. Participate in the Quincy Public Schools Induction and Mentor Program which begins prior to the school year and includes mentorship activities throughout the year beyond regular school hours.11. Demonstrate commitment to reflective practice and adhere to the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation System.12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Curriculum Director or Superintendent of :*Bachelors Degree in Mathematics or a related field (Masters preferred)*Valid Massachusetts DESE license in Mathematics (Grades 58 or 812)*Demonstrated understanding of the current MA Curriculum Frameworks for Mathematics including both content and practice standards*Familiarity with MCAS Math assessment structure and expectations*Proficient in educational technology and digital instructional tools*Successful teaching or practicum experience at the middle school level*Ability to foster interdisciplinary connections across STEM subjects*Evidence of designing engaging student-centered lessons assessments and/or project-based learning experiences*Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and build positive relationships with students colleagues administrators and familiesQuincy Public Schools strives to create an inclusive and racially affirming environment that welcomes and values the diversity of our staff and students.
