QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing with no disciplinary actions. A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required with at least one year in providing services in an approved clinical facility- i.e. hospitals assisted living facilities etc. The candidate must also complete a Board of Nursing-approved Train-the-Trainer program before instructing students. Teaching experience especially with high school students is preferred but not required. Strong communication skills professionalism and the ability to connect clinical instruction with classroom content are essential.
DESCRIPTION
The High School Nurse Aide Program Instructor is responsible for delivering the Virginia Board of Nursing-approved curriculum to students enrolled in the Nurse Aide program. The instructor plays a key role in preparing students for the workforce and the Virginia Nurse Aide Certification Exam by providing rigorous academic and hands-on clinical instruction. This position supports students development in healthcare knowledge technical skills and professional behaviors required for entry-level work in long-term care and other healthcare settings.
GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the direction of the School Principal and other administrators in conjunction with the Supervisor of Career & Technical Education.
WORK CONDITIONS
This position requires work in both classroom and clinical settings. Clinical instruction will take place in long-term care or other approved healthcare facilities requiring adherence to facility policies and infection control protocols. The role may involve lifting standing for extended periods and providing physical demonstrations of patient care. Occasional evening or off-site activities (e.g. certification testing student events) may be required. The position may include potential additional duties during summer certification or training sessions.
