The primary purpose of the Parking Office is to utilize proprietary database systems to provide a variety of high-level program support functions review and process documents determine and explain compliance with rules regulations and policies and maintain a computerized records system. The position ensures accurate parking permit sales and is knowledgeable of the entire citation process. It requires performing customer service in the office or throughout campus by assisting customer with necessary information about Boise State. The supervisor assists with escalated customer situations and helps the manager with high level projects.
Campus Security Authority: This position is identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) per the federal law known as the Clery Act. Per this law the employee is required to report any crimes that they become aware of to the Clery Compliance Officer. Additionally CSAs are required to complete annual training prescribed by the Clery Compliance Officer.

Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies procedures and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational financial and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.
Public Safety Standard Employee Responsibilities
Ensures customer service for the entire Department and campus community.
Has knowledge of the Department its employees and how the department functions.
Engages in Departmental problem-solving for organizational issues; makes recommendations for Department efficiencies and advancement.
Plans and coordinates a variety of special administrative projects and assignments.
Renews job knowledge by reading professional journals participating in educational opportunities and belonging to professional organizations.
Represents the Department and the Division in select working groups committees and partnerships both internal and external to the University.
Engages the entire campus community through workshops and training programs designed to enhance the student experience and the safety and security of all community members
Public Safety Manager Responsibilities
Manages all aspects of team leadership including hiring coaching termination scheduling work assignments communication and professional development while also evaluating performance providing feedback and fostering a unified and motivated team.
Oversees daily operations by ensuring excellent customer service monitoring compliance with policies and procedures recommending improvements and managing workflow and productivity to meet departmental and campus community needs.
Develops and implements comprehensive staff training programs including initial job orientation and ongoing education to ensure regulatory compliance and enhance employee skills.
Parking Office Supervisor
Supervised daily operations including staff scheduling project assignment and ensuring adequate office coverage while also managing equipment and supply needs and suggesting procedural improvements for efficiency and enhanced customer service.
Led all aspects of part-time and student staff management for the Parking Office encompassing recruitment training supervision performance assessment and fostering educational or advancement opportunities.
Handled escalated customer service issues and conflict resolution concerning parking and citations and assisted with end-of-day financial reconciliations and change drawer audits.
Record Keeping Database Management Information Retrieval
Manages and ensures the accuracy and confidentiality of data within complex integrated database systems (e.g. Oracle T2Flex PeopleSoft Idaho DMV Event Calendars) by processing manipulating and updating records and developing reports.
Researches errors throughout record systems/databases troubleshoots issues and implements corrective actions to maintain data integrity.
Reviews evaluates and processes records and documents determining conformance to eligibility requirements based on rules regulations statutes and program policies and explains these requirements to customers.
Revenue Collection
Process payment types (checks credit cards cash interdepartmental charges) for parking violations and permits maintained accurate cash handling and daily reconciliation and managed student account holds and collection procedures including complex database searches and transaction reversals following departmental protocols.
Customer Service
Delivers exceptional customer service skillfully interacting with multiple University patrons including dissatisfied individuals by exercising professionalism active listening creative problem-solving and compassion to explain complex rules and resolve inquiries.
Exercises independent judgment and discretion to gather information from various sources make informed decisions resolve problems and complete assignments requiring in-depth program knowledge.
Ensures campus safety and security by observing surroundings identifying and reporting hazardous conditions suspicious activities and other incidents to the appropriate authorities.
May perform other duties as needed.
Preferred: Two years experience overseeing customer service representatives.
Extreme attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with the general public.
Experience working in a college or university setting.
Experience working with customers from a wide variety of backgrounds while delivering exceptional customer service.
Ability to use relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether events or processes comply with laws regulations or standards.
Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters and information.
Ability to respond to campus within 30 minutes for unplanned events and emergency response.
Experience: supervising staff; applying parking management concepts to include traffic pattern survey and parking layout traffic and parking hazards and safety standards; preparing written reports and correspondence.
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.
One-year supervising staff.
Conflict resolution experience.
Two years experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
Two years experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
Two years experience interpreting explaining and applying regulations laws or complex policies to carry out assignments.
Two years experience retrieving data using a computerized records system.
One year using a point of sale system and handling and balancing financial transactions.
