DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Birthday Party Assistant is a part-time position responsible for the supervision and safety of children and other guests attending birthday parties at the Summit on the Park and/or other Township locations.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)
- Assists with set-up including decorating for the event with the designated theme material.
- Ability to supervise up to 15 children at a time; ages of children may range from 4 to 12 years of age.
- Responsible for positive and friendly interaction with children and adults.
- Responsible for creating an inviting friendly and comfortable atmosphere for children and other participants and visitors.
- Assist host/hostess with childrens games and other group activities with an enthusiastic attitude.
- Assists with party preparations and other requests including cutting cake serving refreshments and filling helium balloons.
- Ensures a safe environment for all participants and visitors.
- Enforces all birthday party event policies as well as general building policies.
- Performs other assigned duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to possess CPR (Adult and Infant) certifications within 60 days of employment.
- Previous experience dealing with the public in a mature and responsible manner preferred.
- Previous experience working with children ages 4 to 12 years of age preferred.
- Must feel comfortable working with children ages 4 to 12 years of age.
- Ability to clearly communicate procedures problems and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to compassionately and effectively supervise children ranging from 4 to 12 years of age.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public and establish effective working relationships with other employees.
- Must be willing to conform to department uniform policy.
- Ability to work a wide variety of shifts including afternoons evenings weekends and holidays.
- This is an At-Will position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs budgeting constraints and staff availability.

- This is a part-time job opportunity. An employee in this position can work up to 29 hours per week year-round. Work hours however will be solely determined based on workload and availability.
- This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position are not full-time and will be classified as part-time employees.
