Description

Finance employees receive account for monitor and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to Gods commandments) for the Churchs religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders.

Reporting to a controller or director this position is the second level financial manager position. In this position an incumbent will typically manage a work group that will consist of financial industry professionals such as Accountants Financial Analysts Finance Supervisors and Accounting Clerks. The incumbent is responsible for the quality and quantity of work in the unit including timely processing of accounting/financial documents timely completion of reconciliations related to the units work etc.



Responsibilities

Typically manages a work group that will consist of financial industry professionals such as Accountants Financial Analysts Finance Supervisors and Accounting Clerks. The mix of employees managed will depend on the department the work group and the nature of the specific assignments.

In this management role the incumbent: (1) handles selection staffing performance and discipline issues; (3) provides/arranges for employee training; (4) assigns work; (5) researches and solves problems unique to the unit; and (6) serves in special committees or participates in special projects as assigned.

In addition to management duties the incumbent may perform significant individual contributor functions. In such cases an attachment is included that becomes part of this job description for the specific job. At this level the individual contributor functions would be similar in complexity to those specified in the Analyst Financial Senior job description and would typically focus on the Division or Department level. Ensures that all reports and disclosures comply with applicable governmental regulations professional standards and organizational policies.

Responsibilities from the AccountantFinancialSr role:

  • Coordinate and review the preparation and analysis of consolidated department budgets and financial statements
  • Prepare management reports
  • Help train personnel as assigned in financial principles and department procedures
  • Prepare policies and procedures impacting the entire department.
  • Perform and coordinate the performance of internal control reviews and some accounting functions.

Customers including division directors operational and financial management and supervisors will receive information that will help them conduct the business and financial affairs of the department in a legal and professional manner.

  • Perform technical projects with minimum supervision.
  • Be a project manager or team member for technical projects impacting the entire department dealing with complex accounting and budgeting issues.
  • Administer and control large operational databases.
  • Prepare special studies dealing with financial trends.
  • Design develop and implement management information systems.
  • Extract or prepare combined databases of the Facilities Lifecycle Services (FLS or its successor) and CFIS Asset Management (CFIS AM or its successor) to evaluate fixed assets recorded in CFIS AM against established objectives or other criteria.
  • Coordinate and work with information systems professionals to automate to the extent possible the combined FLS and CFIS AM databases to perform the review described above.
  • Prepare and distribute fixed asset objectives exception reports for each international area and CHQ department. Currently consolidated reports are prepared monthly and individual area or department reports are prepared at least quarterly or as requested.
  • Follow up with the respective area or department controllers to encourage prompt and accurate recording of any required asset adjustments.
  • Work with other accounting or other colleagues as requested to assist in the review of leased properties.
  • Participate in the Properties Title Project Oversight Committee and perform analysis and provide support as requested.
  • Participate in the Regulatory Compliance Working Group regular meetings and perform analysis and provide support as requested.
  • Participate in Management Control Auditor (MCA) activities as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
  • CMA CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Eight years of related professional work experience.
  • Working knowledge of PCs networks and basic software applications including spreadsheets and databases.
  • Working knowledge of the Churchs general ledger accounting system and writing standard queries to generate reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
