Job Description
Job Title: Adjunct of History
Campus Location: Walters State Community College - Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a home location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose:Teach history courses.
Essential Job Functions:
- Teach US and World History survey courses. Classes may include ground classes online classes and/or Dual Enrollment courses at local high schools. Classes may be during day and evening times.
- Prepare course syllabi course materials evaluate student learning and maintain class records.
- Participate in departmental meetings as directed.
- Perform job functions in accordance with the institutions policies and procedures.
- Incorporate technology into the history curriculum which may include but not limited to Internet course and video streaming delivery as well as support.
- May perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in history or a related field with 18 or more graduate hours in history will be considered.
- Understanding and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students faculty and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in World History and US History Survey Courses.
- Teaching experience with Dual Enrollment (high school) courses.
- Teaching experience with online courses.

- Ability to work with all student demographics (traditional students adult learners high school students) in delivering required course materials without compromising the quality of the curriculum is required.

- Considers the impact and efficiency of decisions prior to deciding on a specific course of action in deference to WSCCs benefactors and supporters.
Leadership & Supervisory:No authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.
Environment & Working Conditions:Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations. May be exposed to varying conditions when traveling to various work locations on other campuses.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
- Ability to operate and manage computer equipment and multimedia equipment as well as standard office machines such as fax and copier in the department.
- Travel to other campuses and/or high schools as needed to deliver course content.
- Support evening and distance education offerings as needed to reach students.
