Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Food bank Worker provides support to the food bank program provided by Lindsay Community Ministries
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Food Bank
- Aid with processing unloading documenting and sorting donations of food for the Food Bank program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
- Maintain food bank stock cleanliness tidiness and organization of food bank area if needed assist with food drives.
- Ensure that all clients are treated with dignity and respect.
- Receive phone calls for food bank intake.
- Record statistical data in a clear organized and accurate manner.
Health and Safety
- Adherence to all health and safety standards.
- Assist with ensuring that the Food Bank is maintained in regard to organization appearance maintenance and general cleanliness and safety as recommended by Public Health etc.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as required in collaboration with Community Ministries Coordinator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary full-time position based on 30 hours per week.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required.
- Ability to lift/move more than 25 lbs. and this job requires reaching bending and stooping frequently; working in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
- Your supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification when dealing with clients.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Is a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- *International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.20 to $18.76 with a maximum of $22.51.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
