Job Summary

Vice President of Operations George Mason University Fairfax VA / NEW BUSINESS!

As part of the Chartwells Higher EdTeam you will support the business to promote effective operations from sourcing to service as well as implementing successful long term strategic plans that align with client objectives.
We empower our leadership teams to drive business objectives manage the ongoing program growth to achieve and maintain operational excellence.

You will analyze visualize and tailor operational efforts with an appropriate level of product creativity and innovation. You will bring to the table strong leadership employee development skills sound cost management experience and solid managerial expertise. You will also possess a keen understanding of customer identity service and ability to deliver develop and execute events that exceed expectations! The Vice President of Operations will be highly visible and will directly impact client experience. This VPO will ensure that George Mason University as a new piece of business opens and operates efficiently and effectively. You will accomplish this by establishing good rapport with clients identifying profit opportunities and developing strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the proper management of resources distribution of services to customers and analyses of systems are conducted
  • Directs business to achieve high performance as measured by the company scorecard participating in strategic planning meetings when necessary
  • Successfully builds relationships at all levels of the organizations
  • Builds an effective and results achieving team
  • Participates in the sales process by working with pre-proposal site survey team aiding in presentations aiding in negotiation and approving of final contact
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Core Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to manage a team of 10 or more director level team members
  • Higher Education experience in contract food services strongly preferred - contract food service experience a must
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience leading multi-unit foodservice account with a combined managed volume of greater than $35 million
  • Ability to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence at an Executive level; excellent presentation skills also at an Executive level
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an unstructured fast-paced P&L driven environment
  • Sound judgment; ability to make timely decisions
