SUMMARY: The role of the band/music teacher is to direct and manage the overall program of instrumental music for the District; provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district region and state recognition. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDirects the schools instrumental performances including marching band concert band jazz band soloists and performance requirements enforces academic requirements and verifies each students eligibility to participate in band/ for band participation at extracurricular events including concerts football games basketball games pep rallies parades and community and implements band trips in accordance with District policy and regulations as well as student interest and ability. Arranges transportation lodging and meals for out-of-town and conducts tryouts for the band; informs administration and participants of final rehearses and directs musical experiences for the school and with the school administration in providing music programs for school productions graduation ceremonies and as appropriate civic functions that enhance the students performing scheduling and other arrangements for the rehearsals and concerts in cooperation with the building students and required documents for District and State auditions and competitions. Makes all an accurate inventory of school-owned instruments and uniforms. Controls the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as budget needs annually to the principal in accordance with established timelines and all supplies and materials necessary for band-related activities in accordance with established District procedures and budget and implements plans for the instrumental music program and shows written evidence of preparation as lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student students in and out-of-classroom during the school in curriculum and other developmental professional competence through professional learning activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the evaluation with federal and state laws and Board of Education other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required; field of study correlated to teaching assignment as a band/music teacher with the appropriate instrumental music licensure code numbers for the appropriate grade levels or equivalent. Teachers with experience are valued; however no prior experience is required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
