About the Work Unit
The Colorado Department of Transportations (CDOTs) Traffic Specifications Standards & Policy Unit in Denver CO provides traffic safety and engineering support for transportation planning and project development by creating updating and maintaining policies standards specifications sign layouts manuals and guidelines. This Unit manages the Traffic Assets program and the Approved Product List for traffic control devises. The Unit provides support for workzone programs such as the workzone safety reviews and the stewardship agreement with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA ) for the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Workzone Mobility Part J & K and other national manual and guidelines. The Unit plays a key role in supporting CDOT training programs.
About thePosition
The Professional Engineer I provides engineering support knowledge and technical skills to the unit and CDOT Regions related to operations traffic engineering and collection of data to assist with asset program management traffic management and safety and to develop traffic engineering standards specifications and signs using different software applications. This position prepares safety assessment reports for construction projects and highway corridors; performs traffic studies simulations crash analysis and traffic operation analysis for safety projects and Region requests; manages the Memorial Sign Program and the Traffic Assets Management Program and reviews traffic control devices on the Approved Products List (APL) for statewide use. This position provides support in upholding the stewardship agreement with FHWA.
