Job Description

TheCape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Educationis responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties supporting approximately 12000 students in 38schools.

Applicants must provide the following:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 6/7/8 Mikmaq Language Grade 8 Social Studies
  • Requires a Nova Scotial Teachers Licence.
  • Knowledge of the Mikmaq Language is required.
  • Designated for a teacher of Mikmaq descent but maybe awarded for a 1-Year to a teacher who is not of Mikmaq descent but can speak the language.
  • Experience working with Mikmaq students communities and organizations.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mikmaq history culture and educational issues.
  • Excellent classroom and student mangement skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in utilizing culturally responsive practices.

Salary is as per NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement
