About the Role
Are you a driven Health Information Management professional looking to lead at a state level
St Vincents Private Hospital Melbourne is seeking an experienced and inspiring State Clinical Coding Manager to take the reins of our high-performing coding team and drive clinical documentation excellence across our four hospital campuses.
In this pivotal leadership role you will report directly to the Health Information Services (HIS) Manager and oversee strategic direction workforce management workflow efficiency and compliance with coding standards while championing our code right the first time philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mentor and manage a skilled coding team to achieve monthly coding targets and high-quality standards
Drive continuous improvement in coding workflows and resource planning
Foster strong working relationships with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) teams Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) and hospital leaders
Provide technical guidance and coaching to coders for both professional development and audit preparedness
Ensure the accurate timely and consistent coding of patient episodes in accordance with ICD-10-AM ACHI and Australian Coding Standards
Collaborate with clinical teams to clarify documentation and ensure appropriate coding support
Participate in regular audits training initiatives and continuous quality improvement activities

About You
You are an experienced and technically proficient health information professional who brings strong leadership capability stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for clinical data integrity.
You will have:
Bachelor of Health Information Management or Cert IV/Diploma in Clinical Classification
Minimum of five years clinical coding experience including complex casemix
In-depth knowledge of the Australian Coding Standards ICD-10-AM and ACHI
Demonstrated experience in managing or leading coding teams
Strong understanding of private health funding models (desirable)
High-level communication organisational and stakeholder engagement skills
Commitment to patient confidentiality data accuracy and continuous quality improvement
Proficiency in clinical information systems and data management tools
