The Ammonia Gas Technician will be responsible for the installation operation maintenance and repair of industrial refrigeration systems that utilize ammonia as a refrigerant. This includes ensuring system efficiency safety compliance leak detection and emergency response handling. The role demands thorough knowledge of ammonia-based refrigeration systems and a commitment to adhering to environmental and workplace safety standards.
Operate monitor and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of compressors evaporators condensers and piping.
Detect isolate and repair ammonia leaks and perform emergency shutdown procedures if necessary.
Maintain logs of system pressures temperatures and operational parameters.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations including hazardous chemical handling protocols.
Test refrigeration components for performance efficiency and possible issues using diagnostic tools.
Maintain spare parts inventory and request replacements as needed.
Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for system upgrades or troubleshooting.
Conduct training or guidance to junior technicians or plant staff in ammonia safety practices.
Respond promptly to breakdowns malfunctions or alarms related to the refrigeration system.
ITI / Diploma in Refrigeration Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Certification or training in ammonia refrigeration system handling (preferred).
Awareness of local safety codes and international standards related to ammonia use (e.g. OSHA IIAR).
Valid Ammonia Handling Certification (if applicable by region/country).
Strong knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems (NH ).
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals blueprints and system schematics.
Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for mechanical and control system issues.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures for handling hazardous chemicals.
Hands-on experience with maintenance tools leak detection devices and pressure gauges.
Physical stamina and ability to work in cold or confined environments.
