Job Description

Part-Time (50% Position)

Silicon Valley International School (INTL) is excited to announce an opening for a part-time (50% FTE) Elementary School Specialist Teacher for our German Program for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year.


Summary of the Position

The Elementary School German Specialist Teacher plays a vital role in fostering creativity expression and inquiry through the disciplines of Media Skills (Library) Art and Musicall taught in German. This multifaceted position also includes providing additional classroom support in German language classrooms as needed. The specialist collaborates with homeroom teachers and subject-area colleagues to ensure continuity of language acquisition and alignment with the Primary Years Program (PYP) framework.

They support student growth by developing engaging developmentally appropriate lessons that promote creativity and critical thinking. They create a welcoming well-organized learning environment and contribute to interdisciplinary units of inquiry. As a member of a bilingual multicultural community the teacher values collaboration and is adaptable to working across languages and cultures.

This teacher must demonstrate commitment to INTLs mission and guiding principles be experienced working with elementary-age children and possess a warm flexible and student-centered approach. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a dynamic and engaging curriculum that fosters a love of the German language and culture among our elementary students. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator who is fluent in German.

The Role Includes:

  • Teaching Media Skills (Library) Art and Music in German
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop inquiry-based PYP-aligned lessons
  • Supporting German language classrooms as needed to promote continuity and student support
    Documenting student learning and contributing to progress reports
    Participating in faculty meetings and professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and minimum 2 years teaching experience required; Masters degree preferred
  • Native or near-native fluency in German
  • Proficiency in English to communicate with colleagues parents and write report cards
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged children in Art Music or Library preferred
  • Familiarity with the PYP framework and/or bilingual education is strongly preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation is based on education and years of experience. The annual salary for this 50% teaching position for theschool year will be prorated based on a full-time equivalent; the range is $79903 (BA Step 3) to $123672 (PhD Step 23).

Eligible for prorated full-time equivalent (FTE) compensation during three faculty breaks: Winter Spring and Fall as well as the two-week holiday at the end of the year in addition to 40 hours or 5 days of paid sick leave.
