Group Head of Networks and Datacentre

The Group Head of Networks and Data Centres is a senior leadership position responsible for defining implementing and optimizing the group-wide network and data centre strategy. This role is critical in ensuring the global network and data infrastructure supports the organizations growth resilience and operational excellence while aligning with evolving technology landscapes and business objectives. The role requires deep technical expertise visionary leadership and strong stakeholder management

Qualifications :

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and drive the global network and data centre strategy ensuring alignment with business objectives security and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with engineering security product and enterprise architecture teams to shape the strategic vision for network and data centre infrastructure.
• Oversee the design and implementation of scalable secure and high-performance network architectures to support digital transformation and business continuity.

Operational Excellence:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of data centres and network infrastructure ensuring high availability security and reliability.
• Lead the optimization of network and data centre performance through effective capacity planning cost management and continuous improvement.
• Establish best practices for network automation orchestration and fault tolerance driving efficiency and operational agility.

Team Development and Leadership:

• Build mentor and lead a high-performing cross-functional team of network and infrastructure engineers.
• Promote a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous learning within the infrastructure team.
• Provide technical guidance and support to teams across the organization acting as a subject matter expert.

Risk and Security Management:

• Implement robust security measures to protect network and data centre infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards data privacy regulations and internal policies.
• Oversee disaster recovery planning testing and execution to minimize downtime and data loss

Financial and Vendor Management:

• Manage budgets effectively aligning financial planning with strategic priorities.
• Oversee vendor selection negotiation and relationship management to ensure cost-effective high-quality services.
• Drive cost optimization strategies balancing performance and financial efficiency.

Essential:

• Highly experienced in Infrastructure Management; Planning design delivery and control of information technology infrastructure.
• Advanced understanding of Infrastructure Architecture / Design; The activity responsible for ensuring the technical systems and infrastructure are architected and designed to support business requirements.
• Extensive experience in network architecture data centre operations and infrastructure management.
• Advanced understanding of cloud and hybrid networking software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
• Strong technical background with experience in the following areas:
  • Network technologies: LAN WAN MPLS VPLS BGP etc.
  • Network security technologies: Firewalls DDOS SSLVPN etc.
  • Storage networking and load balancing technologies.
  • Network infrastructure design from office scale to service provider requirements.
  • Network management tools and automation.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and transitioning to Network as Code (NaC) approaches to enhance scalability and reduce manual configuration.
• Experience in cloud networking with a strong preference for AWS including VPC design transit gateways and hybrid cloud connectivity.
• In depth understanding of Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment Automation & Orchestration; Continuous Integration is the practice of testing each change done to your codebase automatically and as early as possible. Continuous Deployment follows the testing that happens during Continuous Integration and pushes changes to a staging or production system.
• Experienced in IT Security Management; The practice of safeguarding an organisations digital assets data and systems through strategic measures and protocols to prevent unauthorised access breaches and cyber threats.
• Great understanding of Infrastructure as code; The managing and provisioning of infrastructure through code instead of through manual processes.
• Experienced in Incident Management; Process of identifying responding to and resolving disruptions or issues within an organisations systems or operations to minimise negative impacts and restore normal functioning.
• Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure Deployment; Defining the sequence of operations or steps often referred to as a deployment plan that must be carried to deliver changes into a target system environment.
• Advanced understanding of Agile Methodologies; A set of adaptive and collaborative approaches to project management and software development that prioritize flexibility customer involvement and iterative progress.
• Highly experienced in Change Management; The ability to plan communicate implement and support the smooth transition of individuals and organizations through periods of significant change ensuring successful adoption and minimal disruption.
• Advanced knowledge of Cloud Computing; Proficiency in designing deploying managing and optimizing applications and services on cloud platforms leveraging the flexibility scalability and cost-efficiency they offer.
• Advanced knowledge of Systems Integration; Combining different subsystems or components into a unified and functional whole ensuring seamless communication and interaction among these elements to achieve operational goals.
• Experienced in Infrastructure Testing; The testing process that covers hardware software and networks. It involves testing of any code that reads configuration values from different things in the IT framework and compares them to intended results.
• Advanced knowledge of IT Disaster Recovery Management; Regaining access and functionality to IT infrastructure after events like a natural disaster cyber attack or even business disruptions
• Highly experienced in Cost Optimisation; Analyse plan and manage costs for cost efficiency and expense reduction
• Expert in IT Asset Management; The process of ensuring an organisations assets are accounted for deployed maintained upgraded and disposed of when the time comes.
