Software Development Manager, Amazon Elastic File System

Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) is built in Boston MA and launched in 2016. Its a fully managed service that makes it easy to set up and scale shared file storage in the AWS Cloud. Amazon EFS is designed for a wide variety of use cases: analytics rendering/transcoding genomics analysis AI/ML data science and home directories to name a few.

As a Software Development Manager on EFS you will lead a team designing building and operating a cloud native distributed storage system with petabyte-scale. Delivering reliable and high-performance services and features at AWS scale requires technical leaders with extraordinary expertise and boundless creativity. At Amazon managers will interact with customers understand our business goals and innovate rapidly delivering high-quality and ground-breaking functionality.

What does it take to thrive as a Software Development Manager on EFS You need to be creative responsible and curious while leading the team to move quickly in turning code into customer solutions. - 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
