Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Construction Safety and Health Professional to join our dynamic and growing mechanical engineering consulting practice.

This position is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate as Davenergy has an excellent reputation that can lead to considerable growth in the construction and facility management field. Davenergy has other national construction management contracts that have yet to be leveraged coupled with our reputation in the federal healthcare market this also presents a great business growth opportunity.

Requirements

This program involves new construction projects on an existing medical center campus. Some of the existing buildings are historic properties. The building types include office buildings hospitals clinics laboratories warehouses and other types of real property. Project involves a multi-million-dollar phased renovation of the main hospital building at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Medical Center. At any given time the project is in various stages of development from pre-planning through design construction procurement construction and post-construction. Project currently entering the fourth phase of renovation.

Some of the duties for the successful candidate includes:


Experience must include a minimum of three (3) and maximum of five (5) references that the Davenergy may contact.

The Construction Health and Safety Professional shall meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Be a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or be able to attain this certification within 90 days of contract award with at least three (3) years of construction industry safety program management experience; or
  • Be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with at least two (2) years of construction industry safety program management experience; or
  • Have a Bachelors degree in safety and health from an accredited university or college and have three (3) years of construction industry safety program management experience.

The Construction Health and Safety Professional shall possess an Engineering Architectural or technical degree which includes the core standards required for functional understanding of the elements of building construction and construction safety.

The Construction Health and Safety Professional must have completed the OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety class and have a specialized formal course in hazard recognition and control associated with high hazard work operations such as asbestos electrical cranes demolition working at heights/fall protection fire/life safety ladders rigging scaffolds and trenches/excavations.

Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation commercial practices and standards.

Must be fluent in English.

Must be able to substantiate 5 years recent experience in construction safety.

The name of the Construction Safety Professional and proof of competency/qualifications along with a copy of their resume shall be submitted to the COR and Regional Safety Engineer for review and acceptance.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs passenger use of construction personnel hoist ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. While performing the duties of this position the associate regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the associate is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Occasional lifting of equipment between 10-25 lbs. required.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Architectural Safety or technical from an accredited institution with 5 years industry experience
