    Job Description

    As a Senior Field Application Specialist you will play a pivotal role in our teams success combining your deep domain expertise with leadership responsibilities. This position encompasses the responsibilities of both FAS I and FAS II roles and goes beyond to include additional leadership and strategic tasks. You will lead by example ensuring continuity and excellence in our operations. Beyond your field application experience you will be at the forefront of resolving complex customer issues mentoring and guiding junior team members and driving innovative solutions in our R&D efforts. Your proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting coupled with your exceptional communication skills will foster strong customer relationships and contribute to our continuous improvement initiatives. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities from developing application-specific protocols and optimizing instrument performance to training teams and representing us at key industry events. Your ability to think innovatively and solve problems creatively will be invaluable as we navigate challenges and pursue new opportunities in our field. A Senior FAS must gain proficiency in four or more cross-functional products.

    Role & Responsibilities (Primary Duties):

    Leadership and Team Support:

    • Lead the FAS team as a subject matter expert in the product line.
    • Cover for Lead/Manager/Director during their absence.
    • Organize and resolve customer issues efficiently.
    • Take charge of projects from initiation to completion.
    • Present case studies to internal and external stakeholders.

    Financial Forecasting and Revenue Generation:

    • Lead financial forecasting activities related to FAS initiatives.
    • Develop strategies and lead revenue-generating activities.

    Technical Expertise:

    • Demonstrate expertise in diagnostic manufacturing equipment.
    • Conduct mechanical and electrical inspections and troubleshooting.
    • Perform repair service and preventative maintenance on BioDot instruments.
    • Train customers on instrument operation and maintenance.
    • Optimize liquid handling performance and camera systems.

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively with team members to strengthen capabilities.
    • Assist and lead R&D initiatives.
    • Work as part of a cross-functional global support team.

    Training and Development:

    • Develop application-specific protocols for complex instrumentation.
    • Provide basic and advanced software/hardware training.
    • Develop and deliver training materials for internal teams and customers.
    • Mentor new employees and assist in their training.

    Customer Support:

    • Respond to technical support inquiries promptly and professionally.
    • Maintain support for existing customers by providing protocols and training.
    • Understand and manage customer expectations effectively.

    Innovation and Problem-Solving:

    • Contribute innovative ideas to improve workflow and instrumentation.
    • Demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking in troubleshooting complex issues.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Document application support work and customer visits accurately.
    • Maintain the company knowledge base.
    • Report to the manager of the assigned territory regularly.

    Events and Travel:

    • Assist in tradeshow and conference setups presentations and lead generation.
    • Participate and contribute to sales calls demos lectures and presentations.
    • Travel domestically and internationally for training and support.

    Additional Information

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Requested/Required Experience:

    Education:

    • Must have a BA/BS in Biology Molecular Biology Chemistry or similar subject.
    • Preferred:
      • Masters or Doctorate degree in Biology Molecular Biology Chemistry or a similar subject.

    Experience:

    • 5 or more years of scientific laboratory experience.
    • 5 or more years of field application experience (analytical instrumentation laboratory automation electronics mechanical engineering or computers is highly desirable).
    • Experience in high throughput lab environments is a plus.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with standard laboratory software/interfaces (Microsoft Excel Word Vendor Supplied/Custom Developed LIS).
    • Excellent customer interaction skills verbal and written communication.
    • Strong organizational abilities.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Preferred to have a Masters or Doctorates degree in Biology Molecular Biology Chemistry or similar subject.
    • Up to 50%-75% domestic and international travel may be required.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • The employee may be required to stand walk push pull reach overhead and bend to the floor.
    • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
    • Visual acuity Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
    • Hearing ability Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
    • Working conditions The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting the manufacturing floor.
    • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
    • Drivers License required.
    • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test

    The salary range for this role is $110000-$120000.
