Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in marketing communication or similar discipline preferred. Similar proven experience to an alternative to bachelors degree.
- 3-5 years of project management or experience managing marketing teams or similar use cases.
- PMP and PMI-ACP CSM certifications preferred (tell us if youve had other project management training or if youre in-progress on certifications).
- Project Management tracking software power user experience is preferred ( experience a bonus but tell us if you have experience with a similar tool like Asana or something else).

About this Position
The Commerce Directors Office provides centralized finance budget communications marketing legal IT and HR services and resources for the Department Divisions and attached boards.
The Marketing Project Manager provides excellence in project management for Montanas brand. The MPM is an excellent proactive communicator who can navigate competing priorities unexpected changes and a dynamic environment of internal and external teammates who all work to promote Montana. The MPM doesnt hesitate to call a colleague or stakeholder to discuss a deadline or adjust a project timeline. The MPM is the tip of spear in identifying risks opportunities and efficiencies.
What to Expect:
During the first 3-6 months:
- Get up to speed on project management for the states largest marketing program.
- You will learn and improve the Departments project management software . As the Departments Hive Power User you will become an expert in Hive functionality and best practices. You will design and champion processes in Hive and build out projects for the Marcomm team.
- You will establish required protocols for document sharing and collaboration between the Departments marketing agencies and the Marcomm team. You will be instrumental in uncluttering inboxes by driving adoption of Hive for project communications.
- You will provide training for all Department Hive users on best practices and expectations for using the project management tool.
- You will coordinate and facilitate project management meetings to ensure the team is making the most of its time every day.
- You will produce agendas for meetings with marketing agencies and the Marcomm team ensuring efficient meetings.
- You will become familiar with scope of work development and tracking between the Departments marketing agencies and the Departments programs.
During the first 6-12 months:
- You will develop a rolling plan that continuously works to improve the use of the Departments project management software. This includes updates continually understanding product features and adapting to new use cases.
- You will understand the accounting and billing processes associated with the Departments marketing agencies and support Operations in scope of work tracking against deliverables.
- You will learn and contribute to reporting projects as needed to support operations.
