Job Description
- Observes and listens to operating machines including transfer presses or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine need for adjustment or repair.
- Prove tooling for successful operation of machines at standard production rate.
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
- Assembles and operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
- Operates machines to meet customers orders.
- Understand and use statistical process control and capability studies.
- Studies blueprints sketches drawings manuals specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of blemished workpiece sequence of operation and setup requirements.
- Measures marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Select aligns and secures holding fixtures cutting tools attachments and material on machine such as mills lathes etc.
- Able to select speed and feeds depth of cut on machine tools.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Confers with engineers production personnel or others to resolve machining assembly or production problems.
- Heat treats tools or parts.
SKILLS
- Ability to run all toolroom equipment.
- Must have the skills to troubleshoot problems relating to machines.
EXPERIENCE
- More than 3 years.
EDUCATION
- High school or GED
