Job Summary:

Are you a passionate gamer with a strong background in primary research and a deep understanding of the console and PC video game markets SEGA is looking for a skilled and curious Market Researcher to join our Consumer Insights team. This role is instrumental in helping SEGAs global publishing and development teams make informed data-driven decisions through expertly designed research initiatives.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods is fluent in using SPSS and cross-tabulation tools and can navigate syndicated data sources with ease. This role requires an analytical thinker who can design and execute full-service research programs and translate findings into compelling actionable insights for stakeholders across the globe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary & Market Research

  • Design and manage custom research studies to understand player behaviors motivations attitudes and trends within the console and PC gaming space.
  • Translate business objectives into clear research questions and methodologies with an emphasis on survey design sampling strategy and actionable output.
  • Execute both foundational (e.g. audience segmentation brand tracking) and tactical (e.g. concept testing message testing) research independently.

Syndicated Research & Data Integration

  • Leverage syndicated research tools to complement primary research findings and provide broader market context.
  • Identify and interpret key industry trends that can inform game development marketing and portfolio strategies.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze survey data using statistical software (e.g. SPSS R) including weighting significance testing and cross-tabulations.
  • Synthesize large volumes of data from multiple sources and present clear concise narratives tailored to game teams marketers and executives.
  • Develop visually engaging insight-rich reports and presentations in PowerPoint.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Manage third-party research vendors including scoping budget planning timeline management and quality assurance.
  • Ensure deliverables meet SEGAs standards and are aligned with project objectives.

Cross-Cultural Communication

  • Present research findings to international stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and cross-regional teams acting as a champion for the voice of the consumer.

Working in office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision collaboration and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:

  • For effective supervision of employees and our work product which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance which includes meetings to review work product deadlines and status.
  • To foster communication and collaboration among team members which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.
  • To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation.
  • To enhance understanding of our stakeholders work and business needs facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

Hard Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years primary market research experience. Mixed Methods experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in primary research methodologies including survey design sampling and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with SPSS (or R) for statistical analysis and crosstabulation.
  • Familiarity with survey platforms such as Alchemer Qualtrics or similar.
  • Ability to integrate and interpret syndicated data sources alongside primary research.
  • Skilled in creating executive-ready visually engaging PowerPoint presentations.

Soft Skills

  • Clear and compelling communicator with experience presenting insights to non-research stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player who can guide others and elevate the work of the broader team.
  • Passionate about video games and eager to advocate for the players voice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in a market research or consumer insights role.
  • Experience working in the entertainment gaming or tech industries.
  • Bachelors or masters Degree relevant field of study such as STEM or Social Sciences.
