POSITION SUMMARY

BASIS Ed Texas is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Specialist to support students with significant cognitive and/or developmental disabilities. This role focuses on empowering students through a functional curriculum designed to foster independence and prepare them for successful transitions to adulthood within their communities.

Responsibilities:

• Create a learning environment that prioritizes communication independence and skill generalization in natural settings.
• Collaborate and co-teach with general education teachers to integrate students into classroom activities with typical peers and facilitate inclusive learning experiences.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction often in a lower student-teacher ratio to meet each students academic behavioral and developmental needs.
• Foster a classroom atmosphere that promotes respect collaboration and meaningful participation.
• Utilize evidence-based strategies and assistive technologies to support diverse learning needs.
• Monitor and document student progress adjusting instruction to align with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
• Partner with families therapists and other stakeholders to support students holistic development and ensure a cohesive approach to their education.

Education: High School Diploma
Certifications and Credentials: Valid Fingerprint Clearance
