Position Overview
a next-gen aerospace technology company seeks a dynamic and energetic Staff Structures Design Engineer. This role will lead the design of Electas 9-passenger Hybrid Electric eSTOL (electric short takeoff and landing) Aircraft. The ideal candidate will have a strong background designing metallic and composite structure to meet certification requirements within a fast-paced innovative environment.
We are seeking a candidate with the following key experience and skills:
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Support the design of the airframe from Preliminary Design to detailed drawing release to Manufacturing.
- Help develop program design best practice to meet certification and aircraft requirements.
- Supports the development ofstructural layouts and concepts
- Working withload paths and initial stress calculations to optimize primary and secondary structure
- Designs primary and secondary structures to meet certification and aircraft requirements
- Holds design reviews and presentations on various structures of the aircraft
- Interfaces with vendor/suppliers when required
- Supports theadherence to program schedule as well as program cost targets
- Ensures material and standards selection in line with industry norms and meet all regulatory and company requirements
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2years of experience in Aerospace design engineering with bachelors degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering
Required Skills:
- Experience of structural design for certification to part 23 or 25 standards
- Strong skills in Siemens NX CAD Software and Teamcenter PLM Software
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suites
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft structures design of machined and sheet metal primary and secondary structures.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T
- Knowledge of composite part design
- Systems integration and supplier management
- Proficient in technical requirements writing
- A strong work ethic and ability to independently meet and lead the areas described by the responsibilities and essential functions.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Competency in engineering analysis including structural thermal and electrical
- Experience integrating electrical and mechanical subsystems
- Experience designing mechanical parts (CAD). Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining sheet metal composites 3D printing injection molding composite lamination etc)
- US Person (Citizen or Green Card) Preferred
Location:
- Headquarters in Manassas encourage close collaboration this position is 3-4 OR 4-5 days in the office with some virtual work allowed
Electras salary range for this position is: $90000.00 - $130000.00
Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors including project budgets job-related skills experience relevant education and/or training role level location and project.

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in handling light materials boxes power tools prototypes and different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects some fieldwork may be required working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
