As part of the new 35-acre medical campus St. Josephs Westgate Medical Center features new approaches to healthcare via its onside collaboration with Dignity Health partners. The Westgate team has a solid patient/physician focused style to customer service; actively partnering with patients and physicians to plan for the continuum of care. With future plans to expand St. Josephs Westgate Medical Center a 60000 square foot hospital includes a 12-bed full-service emergency department a 24-bed inpatient unit 2 operating rooms 2 procedural rooms dedicated space for diagnostic services an ambulance bay and helipad. The campus features some of the most innovative uses of materials to promote patient safety patient satisfaction and medical efficiency.

St. Josephs includes the internationally renowned Barrow Neurological Institute Norton Thoracic Institute Cancer Center at St. Josephs Ivy Brain Tumor Center and St. Josephs Level I Trauma Center (which is verified by the American College of Surgeons). Responsibilities
At Dignity Health St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center we deliver humankindness through a wide range of health social and support services in the heart of Phoenix Arizona. As part of our team you will provide clinical expertise support and oversight that helps ensure our patients receive exceptional care. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to champion the change by joining in our mission of healing through humankindness.
As our surgical services nurse at St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center- Westgate you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.
Every day you will go over consent forms answer questions about the procedure do preoperative assessments make sure the equipment is ready to go and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.
To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
- Care for patients before during and after procedures
- Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
- Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
- Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients
Qualifications
Minimum:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
AZ RN license
American Heart Association BLS certification
American Heart Association ACLS certification
2 Years of OR experience required
Preferred:
BSN
