Job Description

Description of Work


The North Carolina Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is committed to the reduction and prevention of juvenile delinquency by effectively intervening educating and treating at-risk and justice-involved youth to strengthen families and enhance public safety.

This position is assigned to the DPS - Juvenile Justice Central Office in Raleigh NC. The physical location for this position may change to meet the needs of the Division.

This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on June 2 2025.


This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY for North Carolina State Government and UNC System current employees and eligible RIF candidates. Temporary employees are eligible to apply.


Position may be eligible for hybrid remote/in-office work schedule.

Juvenile Justice is looking for an energetic candidate who has excellent communication skills can work independently has excellent organization skills is a team player and is a proactive problem solver. Excellent customer service skills are a must.

Candidate will provide HR support for Facilities Court Services Community Programs and Treatment and Intervention Services in the Western and Piedmont Region of the State.

POSITION WILL REQUIRE LIMITED TRAVEL AND MAY BE TASKED WITH ASSISTING WITH EVENTS IN OTHER PARTS OF THE STATE.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruitment for Juvenile Justice positions that includesposting jobs and screening applications attending Job Fairs and Hiring Events
  • Salary administration which involves making salary recommendations to hiring manager and determining qualifying salaries for Juvenile Justice employees
  • Position control which involves tracking position vacancies and taking appropriate action
  • Other duties as assigned as they relate to the overall functions of the Division. Examples would be Time Administration Benefits running background checks (DCIs) etc.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM.

To qualify for this position applicants must demonstrate ALL of the following KSAs:


  • Experience screening job applications to determine qualifications for positions.
  • Experience with Recruitment and/orthe Hiring Process.
  • Experience using a human resources information system (HRIS).
  • Documented experience planning and organizing workloads under strict deadlines.
Management Preference:These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

  • Experience using NEOGOV.
  • Experience applying the State of North Carolina salary administration policy including experience completing salary qualification worksheets and equity reports.
  • Proficiency with Beacon and BOBJ.
