The Opportunity:

Were seeking an experienced WHS Advisor to lead and drive a proactive safety culture across the Y Northern Territory. This role is responsible for ensuring the health safety and wellbeing of staff contractors volunteers and visitors.

This role will provide strategic and operational leadership in WHS developing policies managing risk registers investigating incidents and overseeing injury management and return-to-work programs. The role also promotes wellbeing initiatives and ensures compliance with all relevant legislation through audits and risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses with actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain WHS frameworks policies and compliance systems.
  • Deliver WHS training and support return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct regular audits inspections and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and report WHS and risk performance data to support strategic planning.
  • Manage injury cases workers compensation and contractor WHS compliance.
  • Provide expert WHS advice particularly in high-risk areas like aquatic operations.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a Certificate IV in WHS and a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and Injury Management Legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in workplace incident management risk management and workplace audits including monitoring and reviewing corrective actions.
  • High level of computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and other office programs.
  • Mandatory Requirements

YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement including but not limited to:

    • Valid Working with Children Clearance.
    • Satisfactory Criminal History Check.

    Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and a commitment to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
