Your work environment:
The European markets and Health (EMH) division cover AXAs multi-line insurance operations in eight countries (Switzerland Germany Belgium Luxembourg the United Kingdom Ireland Spain and Italy) as well as AXAs global health division. EMH is the largest contributor to the Group FY 2024 results (36% of Group revenues).
The European Markets central team is set to oversee common strategic initiatives and business performance across EMH. The team gathers 26 employees from 11 nationalities located in different European countries. It operates in a highly competitive insurance market with more than 30m customers supported by 32k employees and provides guidance and support to local markets scales group assets ensures coordination and monitoring of the Groups global strategy application of its standards consistency of commercial approaches and sharing of best practices.
AXAs Group strategy Unlock the Future 2024 26 includes a dedicated pillar of Expanding AXAs Role in Society which is fully integrated into the strategic execution of European Markets. To drive the strategic initiatives of this pillar across EMH a new Inclusive Insurance & Sustainability role was created in September 2023.
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Inclusive Insurance & Sustainability role is to elevate AXA as a sustainable company in Europe
- driving shared priorities promoting cross-market initiatives and synergies to accelerate execution in partnership with key stakeholders at Group level
- be a sparring partner and a fair challenger of local strategy execution
- set the tone for customer advocacy and sustainability in AXAs new strategic plan.
The commitment to expand AXAs Role in Society has been fully integrated into the strategy and execution of European Markets. Together with the market heads the decision was made to focus the impact across markets on several key initiatives: AXAs climate transition Inclusive Insurance and the Hearts in Action volunteering program.
The position offers an expanded scope bridging sustainability with customer priorities. It further includes handling customer brand and marketing topics specific to European markets and will spearhead targeted initiatives from the Global Customer Community and Group Brand to generate impact. In collaboration with 50 European market leaders and Group specialists numerous cross-market projects have been initiated as part of AXAs strategic plan.
- Lead the development of sustainability inclusive insurance customer & brand for European Markets & Health:
- Drive Inclusive Insurance growth and sustainability initiatives across 8 markets;
- Co-create and scale solutions in climate transition and adaptation for clients distributors and partners;
- Increase corporate volunteering and embed it in the company culture (AXA Hearts in Action);
- Drive dedicated customer initiatives to increase customer loyalty and engagement across Europe;
- Visibly expands our role in society through AXAs brand.
- Prepare strategic decisions and updates for the European and Group Management:
- Provide data-driven insights and support management updates.
- Drive collaboration and knowledge sharing between local entities and group stakeholders:
- Connect market leaders for active knowledge transfer and best practice sharing.
Key accountabilities:
The Inclusive Insurance & Sustainability Lead will autonomously drive activities and projects for the region working closely with the EMH Chief Sustainability Officer. She/he will actively contribute to strategic analysis prepare inputs for senior management decisions and ensure effective communication and execution collaborating with key stakeholders at Group/Entity level.
- Support the strategy and deployment of priority initiatives:
- Inclusive Insurance (in collaboration with AXA EssentiAll): drive Inclusive Insurance growth ambition by supporting markets in their delivery of local strategy of inclusive insurance operating model customer value propositions and securing local execution roadmaps;
- Climate Change (in collaboration with Group Sustainability): build/ support in delivering concrete proof points/ business initiatives in climate transition and adaptation;
- Volunteering (in collaboration with Group Sustainability): co-define a joint initiatives and implementation milestones to increase volunteering by 2026 and sustainably embed volunteering in our company culture.
- Prepare strategic decisions and update for the European and Group Management
- Prepare position and decision papers to management secure data-driven insights to drive outcomes within the strategy;
- Support input to Group management updates and act as deputy to CSO as and when required.
- Drive collaboration knowledge sharing between local entities and group stakeholders
- Facilitate effective collaboration amongst markets knowledge transfer and best practice sharing ensuring positive stakeholder feedback and proactive contributions to secure positive outcomes for AXA.;

- Proven ability to create collaborative relations across hierarchies to initiate organize and lead activities driven by regional priorities;
- Knowledge and understanding of financial services and insurance including financial and technical performance indicators;
- Strong interest in innovation and business development in the insurance industry with a focus on action-oriented delivery-focused mindset and strong project management skills;
- Proven analytical and synthesizing skills including the ability to draw conclusions make recommendations and prepare decisions in presentations;
- Fluent in English (oral and written); French language skills are desirable.
