Location: Pope Francis Catholic Elementary School Caledonia
Full Time - 40 Hours per Week - 1.0 FTE- 12 Months per year - Day Shift (7:00am-4:00pm)

PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION
completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
2.A minimum of three years job experience as a Caretaker or other related job experience.
written communication skills including experience writing requisitions for supplies and writing reports regarding occurrences at the job site; and the ability to read and understand plans including floor plans sketches manufacturers literature on the installation and maintenance scheduling of equipment WHMIS information Material Safety Data Sheets and safety training course materials; as well as possessing mathematical skills for ordering and maintaining Inventory and conducting measurements and various other calculations related to the position.
4.A working knowledge of basic electricity basic plumbing heating system operation yard maintenance cleaning procedures and techniques fire extinguishers and alarms. The ability to operate security systems and programmable time controllers.
5.A working knowledge of safety regulations practices and procedures such as WHMIS use of personal protective equipment lifting techniques materials handling and working from ladders and scaffolding. Able to understand all WHMIS and safety regulations and perform tasks in a safe manner.
ability to plan and co-ordinate work assignments of caretaking/cleaning staff and recognize departmental priorities with minimal supervision.
and experience in the safe operation of all required equipment and machinery such as power/hand tools. Floor machines and lawn maintenance equipment including working from ladders scaffolding scissor-lifts and man-lifts.
working knowledge of a computerized environment including data entry in various software programs internet and e-mail.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
the direction of the Supervisor of Facility Operations and/or the Custodial Coordinator(s) the Head Caretaker will be responsible for the daily co-ordination and changes to work assignments.
Head Caretaker will assist with the coordination of training for new and casual caretakers and cleaners assigned to the site as directed by the Supervisor of Facility Operations and/or the Custodial Coordinator(s).
Head Caretaker will facilitate review and organize community use requests and interface with the electronic Community Use module School Administrators and Central Facility staff to ensure the programs are delivered scheduled and set up as required. The Head Caretaker may also be required to communicate with permit holders to coordinate needs.

the school security system including checking and locking interior/exterior doors checking closing and locking windows through the building turning lights on/off and activating the security system at the end of the shift.
the Boards property from abuse and vandalism and report any potentially harmful items or occurrences on or around school property.
external groups using the school facilities including opening/locking doors and reporting any concerns to the principal i.e. damages smoking fire regulations.
the school for fire security or other after-hours events.
inventory of materials related to cleaning including ordering receiving and storage of cleaning materials and products.
and maintain accurate records as required including ministry regulated reports/records occurrence reports school logs and inspections security system reports fire alarm checks.
