Be the Link Between Ship and Shore
Are you ready to step into a hands-on maritime leadership role where every vessel counts and every discharge matters
Were on the hunt for a Port Captain to oversee coordinate and ensure the safe compliant and efficient discharge of break bulk cargo across Australian ports. Youll serve as the primary contact between ship and shore liaising with stevedores and leading operations to minimize delays and protect cargo integrity
What Youll Be Doing
Vessel Discharge Operations
Review stowage plans and assist in developing discharge sequences
Conduct pre- and post-discharge meetings to ensure flawless execution
Verify cargo manifests and check for compliance with lifting and stowage regulations
Oversee and manage the cutting gang for break bulk vessel maintenance
Lifting & MO32 Compliance
Coordinate lifting plans and provide expert guidance on MO32 and AMSA requirements
Deliver remote advice on cranes and loose gear when in-transit
Attend berths and work directly with stevedores to ensure operational safety
Surveys & Reporting
Lead arrival and post-discharge condition surveys with full documentation
Work under supervision of Warranty Surveyor for high-risk or sensitive cargo
Team & Crew Coordination
Deploy crews in Brisbane and Port Kembla and mobilize additional support where needed
Supervise general labour for vessel cleaning and hold preparation
Maintain vessel integrity through organization of welding/removal tasks
What Were Looking For
Proven experience in port operations vessel discharge or marine cargo handling
Sound knowledge of lifting gear stowage planning and discharge sequencing
Strong understanding of MO32 compliance and AMSA safety standards
Exceptional organizational communication and decision-making skills
Available to travel and work flexibly across a 24/7 operational environment
Fluency in Mandarin is essential (liaison with vessel crew and documentation)
