About Us:
Led by Director Kathleen C. Madden the Ohio Department of Administrative Services is the engine of state government providing innovative solutions and supporting the efficient operation of state agencies boards and commissions. The Office of Collective Bargaining is primarily responsible for directing the states labor relations and human resources policy. OCB serves as the primary representative of the state as an employer and negotiates the states labor office presently serves approximately 70state agencies boards and commissions offering technical assistance and expertise to agency management staff on contract interpretation civil service and many employee relations coordinates dispute resolution provides advocacy and consultation on mediation and arbitration cases and administers an electronic grievance filing system for all state bargaining unit employees and agencies.
Performs legal research on specific issues for Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Office of Collective Bargaining Deputy Director Assistant Deputy Director & Lead Labor Relations Human Resources Policy Administrators & Policy Analysts (e.g. researches unfair labor practices civil service laws and rules State Employment Relations Board decisions court opinions and employment law issues);
Analyzes & responds to unfair labor practice charges on behalf of State agencies including contacting agency representatives to obtain information/documentation to support the States position on the charge to complete the response;
Reads reviews & summarizes arbitration awards based on legal research prepares memoranda & performs various special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Must currently be enrolled in an accredited law school.
