Hours of work:Approximately 20 hours per week. Standard shifts are Monday through Thursday 9:00am 2:30pm.

Position description:

The Seattle Aquarium a leading marine conservation organization is looking for 3 Seasonal Group Experience Representatives to join the Guest Experience Team. In this high-energy people-centered role you will serve as the first point of contact for prebooked and walk-up groups such as summer camps school groups and corporate visitors. Your goal is to provide a warm welcome ensure organized entry and support a smooth start to each groups visit.

As part of the Aquariums frontline team youll also assist general guests with wayfinding and serve as an aquarium ambassador along our waterfront campus. Key functions:

Group Welcome & Orientation

• Greet and organize prebooked group visits ensuring a smooth and efficient entry experience.
• Deliver a short welcome speech that includes a Lushootseed land acknowledgment and sets clear expectations for the visit.
• Distribute group materials such as chaperone stickers complete headcounts and assign a group leader to check in at the Pier 59 front desk.
• Coordinate group entry across different entrances and communicate entry updates to Guest Services Visitor Engagement and other floor teams.
• Provide clear communication and real-time updates about day-of group changes.

Ambassador & Public Support

• Offer wayfinding and ambassador support to the general public on the aquarium plaza during slower periods or between group arrivals.
• Support line management and guest entry operations at both indoor and outdoor points.
• Serve as backup for Guest Services line greeter and ticket scanner posts as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required skills and experience:

• Strong communication and active listening skills with comfort speaking to groups of 30 using a microphone.
• Experience managing crowds and providing clear confident directions.
• Customer service orientation with a friendly professional demeanor and interest in hospitality and guest engagement.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure especially when interacting with diverse guests and colleagues.
• Experience using mobile devices such as iPhones or iPads.
• Commitment to working as part of a diverse and collaborative team.
• English verbal and written proficiency is required. Preference will be given to multilingual candidates and individuals with personal or professional experience communicating across languages and cultural differences.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role summer camp school or group programming setting is preferred.

Working conditions:

• Position involves both moving about the aquarium campus as well as staying in one place for long periods of time.
• Shifts will primarily take place outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Occasionally move items such as stanchions and small boxes either independently or in a team-lift situation.
• Constant in-person communication with co-workers the general public and culturally diverse individuals.

Salary and benefits:$20.85 per hour. Temporary staff are not eligible for benefits but accrue paid sick time and are paid an additional $0.75/hour to assist with transportation costs.
