We are seeking a 5 to 7-year Business Litigation Attorney. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in complex commercial litigation excellent legal research and writing skills and a desire to take ownership of cases from inception through resolution.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Independently manage complex commercial litigation matters from intake through resolution with minimal supervision.
Serve as first or second chair in depositions mediations arbitrations and trials.
Develop and execute litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
Draft and argue substantive motions including motions for summary judgment motions to dismiss and discovery motions.
Lead all aspects of discovery including managing e-discovery taking/defending key depositions and resolving disputes.
Prepare witnesses and experts for deposition arbitration and trial testimony.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients on day-to-day case issues and long-term litigation strategy.
Participate in trial preparation including organizing exhibit lists drafting jury instructions preparing pretrial motions and developing trial themes.
Supervise and mentor junior attorneys paralegals and legal assistants.
Review and manage case budgets and billing in accordance with client guidelines.
Evaluate and negotiate settlement opportunities and prepare related documentation.
Support or contribute to business development initiatives including drafting client alerts attending networking events or assisting with RFPs.
REQUIREMENTS:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Member in good standing with the California Bar.
57 years of business litigation experience at a reputable law firm.
Strong experience managing cases including depositions discovery and motion practice.
Proven ability to draft and argue dispositive motions (e.g. summary judgment motions to dismiss).
Courtroom and client-facing experience required; trial experience preferred.
Excellent research writing and oral advocacy skills.
Strong understanding of California and federal civil procedure.
Ability to supervise junior attorneys and manage case teams.
Business-oriented with strong communication and time management skills.
The firm expects associates to bill 1900 billable hours annually
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary range is between $185000 - $210000 Bonus Potential
