Job Description

Overview
The NOC VoIP Engineer plays a critical role within the Network Operations Center focusing on maintaining and enhancing the integrity of voice over IP (VoIP) systems. This position is integral to ensuring that communications across the organizations platforms are seamless efficient and of high quality. The NOC VoIP Engineer is responsible for monitoring managing and troubleshooting VoIP networks ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of issues. They work closely with team members and liaise with external partners and clients to deliver reliable voice services. This role requires a strong understanding of VoIP technology protocols and the ability to analyze and resolve technical challenges as they arise. Their expertise also contributes to system upgrades maintenance and the implementation of new tools that enhance operational efficiency and user experience. A proactive approach is essential as is the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced technology environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor VoIP systems to ensure optimal operation and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve VoIP-related network issues promptly (SIP SDP RTP)
  • Configure and maintain VoIP hardware and software components.
  • Implement and manage SIP trunks for voice services.
  • Analyze traffic patterns to optimize performance and quality.
  • Maintain documentation for network configurations and procedures.
  • Assist in the rollout of new VoIP products and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address connectivity problems.
  • Perform routine system audits to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Provide timely support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports detailing system performance and incidents.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support after-hours issues.
  • Develop and implement VoIP-related training for team members.
  • Evaluate new technologies related to VoIP and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for VoIP services.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in VoIP engineering or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP RTP etc..
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting.
  • Solid background in LAN/WAN networking principles.
  • Knowledge of firewall and security configuration.
  • Experience with cloud-based VoIP solutions is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with quality management and assurance processes.
  • Certification in networking (e.g. CCNA CompTIA Network) is beneficial.
  • Experience with large-scale VoIP deployments preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Customer service orientation with responsiveness to needs.
