IT AUTOMATION AND MONITORING ENGINEER

The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring distributing installing and maintaining Local Area Networks personal computers mainframe computers software and data communications networks. ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.

ITSD is looking for an IT Automation and Monitoring Engineer who will:

-Be responsible for monitoring workflows/integrations jobs in various technologies including Microsoft Windows Linux Azure cloud and other environments.
-Work inside the team and across teams and departments to develop solutions that best meet our users needs and will be easy to operate.
-Respond quickly to job failures by determining the general cause of the problem and remediate; use DevOps for automating deployment and release management.
-Require occassonally to migrate applications to the production and Disaster recovery environment.
-Document problems set up job flow dependencies and execute/troubleshoot flows on Test environment.
-Troubleshoot integration issues between SharePoint CRM and home-grown applications.
-Develop and maintain standard and guidelines for implementing automated processes.
-Work across teams ensuring full documentation compliance for the functions performed by the team.
-Monitor and review documentation every quarter to ensure the currency of all documentation.
-Oversee configuring of IT Automation and Monitoring tools at an enterprise level.
-Work with the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery team and monitor table-top and actual failover events.
-Liase with vendors regarding new automation framework and monitoring tools.
-Ensure security of Production systems
-Work with the team leads to ensure proper automation is in place e.g. backups restores and failover scripts.
-Ensure compliance with agency standards
-Propose updated to agency standards in line with industry best practices.
-Oversee major upgrades including documentation and training.
-Be the liaison between ITSD and the Information Security Division.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree in computer science engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering monitoring engineering management of infrastructure; or

2. Eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering monitoring engineering management of infrastructure;

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above.
