What Youll Do:
As Controller you will development plan and implement strategies that will ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting while also ensuring financial goals are met or exceeded.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
- Develops leads and executes all finance accounting payroll and human resources activities to ensure financial and people goals are met or exceeded.
- Oversees all AP AR and general ledger accounts and reporting systems ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Leads coaches and develops employees for the continual growth in their skills accountabilities and job functions.
- Manages internal controls and safeguards to ensure accurate receipt of revenue and expenditures following GAAP.
- Analyzes and prepares cost accounting financial data and other reports to ensure financial goals are on track; provides information to management on variances and opportunities for correction to meet financial goals.
- Oversees all human resources and payroll functions providing support and guidance to ensure compliant systems and harmonious workplace.
- Prepares annual budgeting based on forecasts in sales and expenses to be able to track monthly status against budgeting.
- Oversees and manages the month quarter and year-end closings to ensure accurate GL data and reporting.
- Manages inventory labor costs and fixed assets for accurate data reporting depreciation standard costing and accurate billing rates.
- Manages the risk and health insurance review process to suggest/select plans that meet business goals and budgetary needs.
- Manages cash flow and treasury functions to ensure accurate bank reconciliations with proper cash management and reasonable funding.
- Compiles the year-end financial statements and coordinates all activity with auditors for accurate reporting and preparation of tax returns.
- Partners with outside vendors accountants auditors insurance banking and benefit partners for a mutually beneficial relationship.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting ; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience: 7 years of progressive general accounting financial analysis and leadership experience in a construction civil engineering or other project-related costing related environment. Knowledge of multi-company consolidations is a plus.
- Certification(s): CPA and/or CMA certifications are preferred.
- Functional Skills: Strong GAAP and general accounting skills; strong with financial analysis job costing and cash reconciliation skills are required. Strong planning organizing prioritizing and execution skills; strong attention to details with strong analytical skills and the ability to research and review large amounts of data to analyze trends and create recommendations; solid problem-solving and reasoning capabilities with reporting/summation skills are also required.
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Strong expertise in Microsoft Office products especially Excel. Strong working knowledge and experience with construction or similar project-related ERP systems.
- Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed to communicate with all levels inside and outside the organization. Will present and train others.
- Leadership/Behaviors: Strong leadership with external/internal customer focus; self-starter with high initiative to meet financial goals able to work independently and make an impact towards the business. Collaborative mentoring personality with an excellent ability to ask solid questions and support process improvement activities. Strong confidentiality and compliance orientation are also important for this role.

Other Important Information:
Pay/Salary: Approximately $125000 - $175000 total compensation based on proven expertise.

Reports To: President
Core Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 pm (schedule can be flexible; will work approx. 8 - 9 hours within this timeframe)
Typical Work Week: M-F; occasional weekend work where required; approximately 45 - 50 hours a week on average
Direct Reports: 3 in Accounting/HR positions
Travel: Limited to site locations or community events
Work Environment: Primarily an office environment with travel to site locations periodically
