Responsibilities

Cardiac Imaging Nuclear Medicine Technologist

1st Shift Monday- Friday

The Staff Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs departmental Nuclear and PET/CT examinations assiststhe radiologist during procedures and produces high quality images. The technologist follows the standards established by the radiologist and such state local and federal standards which may apply.

Serves the following age specific patient populations: pediatrics adolescents adults and geriatrics.

  • Uses two patient identifiers
  • Compares doctors order to requisition for accuracy
  • Assesses patient for possible artifacts and takes appropriate action to prevent interference with image
  • Calculates prepares and administers proper patient dose and correct radiopharmaceutical accordingto dept. standard.
  • Properly disposes of radioactive waste contaminated lines and spent radiopharmaceuticals
  • Routinely demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Coordinates multiple exams into the proper sequence to ensure no conflicts of exams.
  • Assesses the doctors order and the patients diagnosis to determine optimal images.
  • Assesses patients condition comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Observes and reports to physician any change in patients condition during the procedure.
  • Communicates accurate patient information in a timely manner to peers physicians and other departments.
  • Uses all diagnostic computer and communication equipment within safe limits.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent

Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

Registered/registry eligible in Nuclear Medicine

Must be registered within 3 months of hiring
