DEPARTMENT: Security and Transportation
REPORTS TO: Manager of Security Venue Operations & Compliance
STATUS: Part-Time; Non-Exempt

Your role as a Security Officer (Part-Time):
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
- Patrol all ballpark property as required and ensures in a friendly and professional manner the security of employees contracted building partners and visitors. Provide excellent customer service to the security of employees contracted building partners and visitors by keeping a friendly and professional demeanor
- Conduct magnetometer screening and bag search screening for all the security of employees contracted building partners and visitors
- Regulate and control access to restricted and secure areas
- Detect and resolve immediate safety and criminal issues; responds to the scene of an incident and acts as an emergency first responder if required
- Conduct detailed internal investigations into incidents and provide detailed objective reports for each shift or incident
- Attend briefing sessions to learn what events and activities are occurring within the ballpark and ascertains the status of event load-ins and load-outs
- Act as property first responder to alarms medical calls property damages etc.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality on sensitive issues
- Maintain accurate notes and log information as required; ensure that all pass-on information is communicated to the next shift
- Complete all activity logs incident reports repair forms and other documents in a clear concise and legible format in a timely efficient manner
- Greet all clients employees guests and vendors at Petco Park in a professional manner
- Follow established Ballpark Security protocols and procedures at all times
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to strategically create positive publicity for the Club
- Represents the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
- Maintain consistent punctual and reliable attendance
- Possess high degree of discretion integrity professionalism and accountability
- Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience in 24/7 SOFTWARE INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Avigilon CCTV System a plus but not necessary
- Having previous experience working in large public assembly facilities is a plus but not necessary
- Large event security experience is a plus but not necessary
- Having completed courses in criminal justice or security training by recognized academy school or organization is a plus but not necessary
- Previous Law Enforcement/Public Safety experience a plus but not necessary
- Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
You will be required to meet the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possess and maintain active BSIS Security Gard certification status
- Must have a valid current drivers license with a good driving record (subject to review)
- Non-Event Day Availability: Part-Time Security Officers must be available to work at least two eight-hour (8) shifts per week which could include the selection of an 8-hour or 4- hour shift. The Part Time Security Officer will be expected to be available to work a bi-weekly schedule of 32 hours (16 hours per week) and will only be scheduled on an as-needed basis
- Event Day Availability: Must be available and work a minimum of 60 home games during thebaseball season which includes days nights weekends and holidays. Aschedule can be found at to work flexible hours including evenings weekends holidays and extended hours as needed
- Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark stand for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to ascend and descend stairs; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds; able to ride a bicycle for prolonged periods of time
- As a condition of employment you must successfully complete all post-offer pre-employment requirements including but not limited to a background check/drug screen Live Scan fingerprint submission and completion of BSIS Guard Certification Training. Failure to complete these pre-employment requirements may result in rescindingthe conditional offer.
Pay and additional compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law the hourly pay rate for this position is $20.54. Part time non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Living Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
