Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Custodian performs housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and neat facility including the plant offices auxiliary buildings and grounds.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Snow removal at entrance and exit areas as needed
• Replace light bulbs and do minor repairs around plant
• Utilize six-sigma quality tools when appropriate to define measure analyze improve and control processes and outcomes.
• Responsible to maintain & support processes procedures & K.P.I.s owned by your position.

Daily

• Vacuum all front offices first thing in the morning
• Empty all garbage/recycling cans
• Mop & sweep common areas and walkways
• Clean and mop restroom areas and check supplies in all restrooms
• Break down empty boxes and remove to dumpster
• Check rest rooms at end of shift
• Clean break room & Conference Room

Weekly

• Mop front entrance and hall
• Clean glass doors
• Vacuum sweep mop rear offices
• Mow lawn when needed
• Sweep warehouse

• Completion within time stated of all training required by Job Description in HR LG 01 Training Matrix
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Read write & speak English
• Able to follow written & oral instructions

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 18 years old
• General knowledge of cleaning and grounds-keeping techniques
• Physically able to perform physical duties listed
• Must be able to work without direct supervision
• Must be able to independently lift 40 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses hearing protection steel toe shoes and other mandatory safety equipment.
• For the most part ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sit/stand as needed. for 8-10 hours a day.
• Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
• Reaching above shoulder height below the waist or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
• Proper lifting techniques required.
• Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol.
