Job Summary:

The Director of Communications and Community Engagement is responsible for developing and executing Axis Community Healths comprehensive communications and community engagement strategy. This role serves as the primary liaison for community partnerships and media relations. The Director will also lead the creation and implementation of an internal communications plan designed to promote a positive inclusive workplace culture and strengthen connections between Axis and its staff and community stakeholders. Additionally the position supports Axiss mission vision and strategic goals through the advancement of key initiatives and priorities and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications marketing design or related area preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in communications public relations or development.

  • Excellent business and social communication skills both written and verbal withexcellent writing editing and proofreading skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and execute deliverables while managing various projects and priorities.

  • A collaborative relationship builder able to motivate and lead a project team and adept at guiding ambiguous situations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain relationships with community players and leaders including those in other non-profits and public service.

  • Experienced in the development and execution of graphic design photography video print and online communication formats.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word Publisher and PowerPoint withAdobe Suite programs including InDesign Illustrator and Photoshop desired.

  • Experience in strategic use and management of on-line modalities including e-newsletters social media platforms and search engines and managing online feedback.

  • Experience with website development and maintenance with Wordpress is desired.

  • Experience with event logistics volunteer management and fundraising.

  • Experience with non-profit organizations and familiarity with the Tri-Valley area is desired.

  • Commitment to Axiss mission and core values and background in the health needs of underserved populations.

  • Proven ability to lead motivate develop and manage a team to achieve organization goals.

  • Must possess a valid and current drivers license with reliable transportation a clean driving record and automobile insurance is required.

  • Strong analytical and excellent employee relations skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.

  • Proactive self-motivated and able to work independently as well as on a team with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for digital presence for web and social media including overseeing website functionality design and content; and social media account management posts and responses.

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of social media and digital marketing campaigns.

  • Oversee management of photography portfolio and provide photography for projects.

  • Ensure cohesive branding for the design and messaging of all company communications by setting and maintaining standards for design messaging branding and logos.

  • Direct project and event positioning by developing content and design for communications and managing production including videos surveys flyers signage postcards newsletters forms brochures presentations banners outreach materials etc.

  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to develop and implement communication strategies and set priorities for communications initiatives.

  • Collaborate with other team members on branding content and logistics for staff and community events and develop supporting materials including banners signs and presentations.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop brand and market programs that highlight Axiss culture.

  • Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets and act as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries in coordination with senior staff.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy that includes outreach to diverse communities businesses civic groups and non-profit organizations.

  • Provide leadership to sustain grow and evolve Axiss presence in the community to increase utilization of ACH services by diverse populations.

  • Initiate and cultivate partnerships with nonprofit organizations groups and agencies that provide support to underserved communities and ACH clients in the Tri-Valley.

  • Assist in conducting meetings needs assessments and focus groups with patients clients partners and community-based organizations to inform leadership of community needs.

  • Oversee and coordinate external outreach services with staff and volunteers that promote ACH participation in community events including tabling at health fairs schools clubs fairs etc.

  • Participate in CBOs on behalf of Axis in coordination with senior leadership.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for Axis Community Health to participate in community events and activities.

  • Stay current on public policy and factors that affect Axiss patient population and community health centers and assist with advocacy and policy communications in alignment with organizational goals.

  • Provide direction effective team leadership project planning and budgeting for communications projects.

  • Establish in-house systems to meet communication needs for programmatic services including patient services and administration; enhance user experience in the implementation of communication technologies.

  • Select and manage external vendors and media outlets that support achieving cost-effective production methodsnegotiate contracts and monitor work progress and results.

  • Seek to achieve measurable results by utilizing market data to analyze performance and set priorities; perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.

  • Oversee team performance provide guidance and support delegate tasks resolve conflicts foster professional development and ensure alignment with organization goals.

  • Drive to other sites and locations attending events as needed and to perform job duties or support organizational operations.

  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.

  • May be required to perform other related duties responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Work is normally performed in a typical clinic office work environment (and in some cases telecommuting sites). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
