Primary Purpose of Position:

The North Carolina Museum of Art is seeking an enthusiastic team member to be part of our wonderful organization!The Digital Imaging Technician assist in digital capture of Museum collection objects and artwork as well as images for editorial and promotional use under the supervision of the Manager of Digital Imaging. The position will be involved in the day-to-day functions of the NCMAs digital imaging studio and will be responsible for technical support and operations. As the Digital Imaging department at the NCMA produces imagery for multiple applications this position will also be expected to collaborate with other museum departments on digitization projects as well as to help assess and modify various imaging workflows within the Museum. This position is expected to maintain familiarity with current and emerging best practices workflows and technical approaches within the cultural heritage digital imaging field.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Managing and configuring studio capture devices
  • Creating custom ICC or DCP profiles for studio cameras and scanners
  • Maintaining firmware and upgrades
  • Troubleshooting technical issues
  • Post-processing of images including embedding metadata
  • Ingestion of images into Museums Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) as well as managing key administrative functions of the DAMS.
Position/Physical Requirements:
  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 40 hours.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

The North Carolina Museum of Art is a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The statutory purpose of the museum is to acquire preserve and exhibit works of art for the education and enjoyment of the people of the State and to conduct programs of education research and publication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art on the part of the people of the state.
