Job Summary: The dorm support nurse will work with students concerning health issues in a non-diagnostic non-treatment setting.
Scope of Responsibility:
Triage students in the dorm and assist them in getting the care they need
Transport students as needed to the UHC pharmacy and imaging
Perform TB test and read in the office
Acts as a liaison with deans/counselors/chaplains office regarding the needs of students.
Will be available to discuss mental and physical health-related issues with students and provide appropriate assistance
Cross-train to work in the health center as needed
Assist UHC in obtaining incomplete immunization records
Participate in all registration events
Attends scheduled UHC staff meetings.
Maintains appropriate documentation of activity while at work.
Complies with all OSHA FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
Performs all other reasonably related functions as assigned.
40 hrs/wk during the academic year with summers off returning for Smart start
Special Requirement:An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Education and Experience: A degree in nursing and a current RN licensure in Tennessee are required. A current BLS certification is also required. Five years of experience in general nursing practice is recommended.
Qualifications: The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Good customer service and tactfulness in dealing with people along with discretion good judgment initiative and the ability to work independently are especially important. Must be a self-starter and possess good organizational skills. Must be able to work well with personnel and be a team player. The ability to maintain confidentiality is vital.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting standing bending and reaching. It may require lifting to 25 pounds and the use of full PPE including gown gloves N95 respirator and face shield. It requires manual dexterity to operate computers and telephones.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. The work area is well-lighted and ventilated.
