Job Description

Maintenance Operative


Specific Tasks & Responsibilities


  • To carry out maintenance repairs to buildings fixtures and fixings. Including a wide range of basic joinery tasks basic plumbing and basic electrical works

  • To inspect systems maintain grounds including general cleans and painting

  • Undertake all scheduled and reactive repairs to a high standard to the property portfolio

  • When required assist with stock management

  • Complete handover inspections and highlight any concerns to the Property Admin team

  • Have awareness of any repairs within the properties and report to the Property Admin team

  • Highlight any safeguarding concerns to the Management Team

  • Responsible for own personal safety and risk assess each situation accordingly using the provided safety planning information

  • Mentor new recruits to ensure they meet the needs of the organisation

  • Be responsible for a company vehicle and ensure all checks and documentation are completed and accurate

  • Attend all relevant training courses and meetings as required

  • Attend a minimum of Bi-annual One to One meetings

  • Adhere to all Target Housings policies and procedures

  • Perform any other duties as requested or required to further the aims of the organisation and as directed by the Management Team



Person Specification


  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role

  • Experience of general maintenance

  • Flexible and willing to adapt to a frequently changing role

  • Understand the need for continuous improvement within the service

  • Able to work well within a team

  • Awareness and understanding of the people we support and their potential vulnerabilities

  • Full driving license
