W.R. MYERS HIGH SCHOOL- W.R. Myers High School is an inclusive high school in Taber Alberta with approximately 450 students and a staff of 40.
Temporary Educational Assistant approx. 29 hours/week
Monday Thursday 8:20 a.m. 3:25p.m. & Friday 8:20 a.m. 12:10p.m.
W.R. Myers High School is looking for an enthusiastic temporary Educational Assistant to join our student-focused team. This role involves working closely with students in both one-on-one and small group settings supporting their academic social and emotional growth.
An educational assistant who is collaborative flexible and energeticsomeone who can adapt to the diverse needs of our learners and contribute positively to our school community. The ideal candidate is compassionate dependable and eager to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of students.
This position commences August 26 2025 and concludes June 1 2026 or upon return of the incumbent whichever should occur first.
An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division:
- Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
- Maintains confidentialityand a patient supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
- As required provides personal care including toileting diapering feeding dressing grooming etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting positioning and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
- Ensures the safety of students in the school and community which includes maintaining close supervision of students ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e. scissors cooking utensils etc.).
- Maintains collegial relationships with the students learning team.
