The Inter-Cultural Association of GreaterVictoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement agency that has contributed toGreater Victorias vibrant community for over fifty years. ICAs services rangefrom guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses tosupporting vulnerable newcomers to become confident contributing members ofour community. In partnership with more than 500 community partners andgenerous donors and volunteers ICA serves as a helping hand a listening earand a tireless advocate for immigrants and refugees.

We are looking for a RecreationFacilitator (Canada Summer Jobs placement position) to assist the Workshopsand Training department on the delivery of training initiatives. In this roleyou will provide specific support on recreation programming such as sewingprograms and sports programs. Additionally you will support the Workshops andTraining team with development of workshop materials and promotional contentas needed. Reports to Training Coordinator. Serves all individuals includingBlack Indigenous and/or People of Colour LGBTQ2 and Indigenous and thosewith diverse abilities. Reports to the Training Coordinator. Some evening workwill be required.

What you will bring to the role:

A passion forhelping others and a positive mindset.

Experience andconfidence delivering presentations trainings and workshops.

Familiarity with curriculum development andadult learning practices.

Strong understanding of cultural sensitivityequity and diversity.

Strongwriting and communication skills.

Strongadministrative skills including data management.

Strong computer proficiency includingexperience with client management databases M365 Canva and Moodle.

Interestin the social service not-for-profit and/or multicultural environment.

Proficiencyin a settlement/resettlement language preferred.

Thisposition requires proof of WHMIS training and a criminal record check thatincludes vulnerable populations check.

Additional assets we value:

Post-secondaryeducation in social sciences refugee/forced migration studies communitydevelopment adult education or related fields or combination of education training and experience.

Keenunderstanding of diversity issues to work with persons from diverse culturaland ethnic backgrounds.

Multilingualisman asset.

Special Requirements based on funding for this role:

Compensation and hours: This position starts at $27.61 per hour working a maximumof 280 hours over the entire term.
